It's June 4TH and I'm FREEZING! It's been a rainy dark day and I just let my doggie out and brrr, it is down right cold out there. I just checked the weekly weather forecast for this week and I can't believe that the low tonight will be 48 degrees and tomorrow night 46! What is going on? It's June for God's sakes here in NJ and it's supposed to be in the high 60's to mid 70's. I guess mother nature didn't get the memo.
I am concerned about my little garden. I pretty much have it all planted but I know my tomato plants are not going to like this cold weather. It's been raining a lot. Last month I was saying we are having our April in May. Now it feels like April again, though April was unseasonably warm with some days hitting close to 80 degrees. It's just screwy. I just hope we have a better summer than we did last year. It rained so much in August and we were hit by hurricane Irene that most of my veggies rotted on the vine.
So I was out in the garden on Saturday and I thought I was alone, just me and the ticks, but no! I had company.
A 3 foot long garter snake
And a little ring neck snake
Years ago I would have run screaming and not go near the garden for the rest of the season, but I've found my phobias are no longer that important to me. I know these guys are not poisonous, so I just told them to stay out of my way.
May warm and sunny days fill your summer!
