I have a confession. I live with a couple of slobs. I love them dearly, but do you think they would do a dish, wipe a counter or wipe the inside of the microwave oven down when they bring a cup of water almost to a boil when making tea? Noooo, that would be too easy. It doesn’t matter that I have a Tassimo, a one cup coffee maker like the Keurig that will give you a cup of hot water in under 30 seconds, that uses too much electric, my electrician husband laments, who am I to question the expert.
Anyway, all that condensation has rusted out the inside of my microwave. On the bottom lip of the door and in the round indented track that the carousel moves around in. Because my microwave is not a lost cause, nothing is rusted all the way through, it’s just a flesh wound, I think I can fix it. After all I’m the fixer. Actually my husband is pretty much Mr. fix-it too, I guess that makes
me Mrs. fix-it.
So, I got my thinking cap on and wondered if they made the high temperature heat paint in white, since that is the color of the inside of my microwave. Years ago, I had used the black high heat spray paint for my then black rusting outdoor gas grill, but I wasn’t sure about white. Well, heck yeah they do make it and I found it at my local Lowes.
So after some elbow grease, scrubbing the rust off as best I could and taping off where I didn’t want the paint to go, I sprayed my way to a new looking microwave. I’m happy with the way it turned out. It’s not perfect but a heck of a lot better than it was. Now do you think I can get my DH to wipe it dry after each cup of water, probably not but now I know I can fix it!
